Meet Our Staff

John began his insurance career in 1983 with The Travelers Insurance Company. In 1991, he joined Poland & Sullivan Insurance as a Commercial Insurance Advisor. John became President and equal stockholder along with his business partner Andre Hoeschel in 2003. John’s primary duties today consist of providing insurance advice to our commercial and personal customers. The designation of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) was conferred upon him in 2005 by The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research.

John has served on regional producer councils for Travelers, C.N.A. Insurance and Donegal Insurance Companies. Since 1989, he has also served as an instructor at the University of Delaware’s Small Business Development Center.

In 2007, John was elected as Chairman of the Delaware Association of Insurance Agents & Brokers (DAIAB) and later that year was recognized as the 2007 Delaware Insurance Agent of the Year. In addition, in 2008, John was awarded the highest honor possible by the Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland Independent Insurance Agents Group for his work in creating the DAIAB.

John is a lifelong resident of Delaware having graduated from Archmere Academy and the University of Delaware.

Andre began his career in the Financial Services field in 1985. He assists our clients with personalized strategies to help with their Financial Planning needs (Retirement Income Planning, College funding as well as Wealth Accumulation strategies). Andre holds the Series 7, Series 65, and Series 63 licenses through FINRA as well as Life, Health, and Property Casualty licenses. Andre is also one of Delaware’s most experienced Long-Term Care Specialists.

Andre has been a frequent voice and contributor of the Business Section in the Wilmington News Journal as well as WILM radio. He is available to speak at Business and Club meetings on a variety of interesting and timely topics.

He resides in Hockessin, Delaware with his family and is active in several community events.

Jonathan began his insurance career with the Travelers Insurance Company as a Property Claim Adjuster in 2010. Working directly with homeowners during the claims process, Jonathan learned how the promise of insurance becomes real. He has extensive knowledge of insurance policy language, coverage determination, and estimating and adjusting guidelines. Jonathan also worked with homeowners all over the country after natural disasters struck (Alabama tornadoes 2011, Hurricane Irene 2011, Texas Hail Storm 2012, Hurricane Sandy 2012). The most important thing that Jonathan learned from his time as a Property Claim Adjuster was the human element of insurance; making sure that the customer was always treated with exceptional professionalism and personal respect. These elements have made Jonathan a vital addition to Poland & Sullivan. He joined our team in 2013. Jonathan is licensed across all lines of insurance (personal, commercial, life, health). Jonathan is a Delaware native and currently resides in Wilmington. He attended Archmere Academy for high school and Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. Jonathan was a four year member of the football team at Franklin & Marshall.

Cindy received her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from University of South Florida in 2004. She has over 25 years’ experience working in various accounting positions. In June 2012, Cindy joined Poland & Sullivan as a part-time bookkeeper assisting in processing the agency’s financial transactions. In January 2014, she obtained her Life & Health License expanding her role to include Financial Services assistant working with Group and Individual Health Insurance Clients. In July 2017, Cindy became the full-time Controller for Poland & Sullivan handling all aspects of financial management for the agency as well as human resources and office management.

Becky has over 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry. The majority of her work has been in Commercial Lines. Becky joined the staff of Poland & Sullivan Insurance April 2002 as a Customer Service Representative working with businesses large and small. She is a licensed insurance agent and is authorized to provide counsel on Property, Casualty, Surety, Marine, Transportation, and Auto and Homeowners insurance coverages. She earned her Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation in June 2000.

Becky began her insurance career in 2010 after working in the salon & management industry for 25 years. Becky is a licensed insurance agent who enjoys working with her clients and educating them to make sure that all their insurance needs are met.

Missy has been in the insurance industry for over 25 years and joined Poland & Sullivan in September of 2007. Missy excels in her knowledge of personal insurance including home, auto, boat, motorcycles and personal umbrellas. She enjoys giving each of her clients her full and caring attention. Nancy has been in the insurance industry for over 30 years beginning her career with the former Continental American Life Insurance Company and brings her expertise in sales and service to our customers. She is licensed in Life, Health, Disability and Long-Term Care.
